The St. John the Apostle School Forensics Team promotes the essential oratorical skills of public speaking as a means to develop communication, interpretation, and critical thinking skills to our 5th to the 8th-grade student population. The St. John the Apostle forensic team has been a leader in both county-wide and high school competitions, ranking in the top three schools in the Union County Catholic League of Forensics since the team's inception in 1998. The team holds more than seven first place titles.
St. John the Apostle School students compete locally with the Union County Catholic League of Forensics, the Union Catholic High School Annual Forensics Tournament, the Mount St. Mary's Forensics Tournament in Watchung, and the Roselle Catholic Scholastic Olympics. Many of the St. John the Apostle Forensics Team students go on to compete at the high school level. Several graduates have also competed at the national level, in areas such as prose, poetry, declamation, and duo interpretation of literature. Top high school public speakers from around the country compete each year and St. John the Apostle School is proud to have provided the foundation for many of its students to compete at such a prestigious level.
