This fall, Saint John the Apostle School held its 6th Annual Cardboard Challenge, and once again, our creative SJA families rose to the occasion! This year’s theme, centered around the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, sparked imaginative ideas that showcased both athleticism and artistry. Students from PreK3 to 8th grade participated. Families were invited to use cardboard to bring to life Olympic sports, athletes, and iconic landmarks from Paris. Designs included a working tennis racket, a rowboat, the Olympic rings, medals, arenas, and even a motorized track. From the Eiffel Tower to miniature sports arenas, our students and their families demonstrated their creativity and resourcefulness in bringing the spirit of the Games to life. This annual event is a perfect example of how the growth mindset plays out in real life. The process of brainstorming, sketching, building, and testing encourages resilience, problem-solving, and the understanding that learning is a journey, not a destination. Just like athletes training for the Olympics, our participants embraced challenges, learned from their mistakes, and celebrated their progress along the way. The event, sponsored by the SJA STEM Club, was a wonderful reminder of the power of collaboration and innovation. Thank you to all who participated and made this event a huge success. We can’t wait to see what next year’s theme will bring!
