In fourth and fifth grade mathematics, teachers apply various methods to their pedagogy to assist students in becoming secure with previously introduced topics. Additionally, students are exposed to new concepts and develop an understanding of math in everyday practice. Use of math centers enable students to get hands on practice with manipulatives, and work in a group setting. In the Math Lab, students are put into small groups and challenged to solve problems using teamwork. STEM projects are also incorporated into the learning process. Students are assigned individual growth plans that highlight areas of strength and provide additional instruction for areas of improvement. Both in class support and small group pull out support are provided for students who need remedial skill assistance. Students are assessed three times a year with MAP Growth Standardized testing. Various "Math Holidays" including Fibonacci Day on November 23, Pythagorean Theorem Day on December 16, and Pi Day on March 14 are celebrated with special activities.
