At SJA, we nurture competent, creative thinkers, curious learners, and compassionate citizens. With two first-grade homerooms, our faith-based community values each child's unique gifts, fostering a love for learning and discovery.
Language Arts: Using the Orton-Gillingham approach, students will build skills in phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. They’ll enhance their writing, becoming published authors, and participate in the Pizza Hut Book-It reading program, where meeting reading goals earns them a free pizza.
Math: Students will connect math to everyday life, learning about numbers, patterns, geometry, fractions, time, money, and measurement. Our math lab provides fun, hands-on experiences with games and teamwork to reinforce classroom learning.
Social Studies: Students will explore communities, from families to nations, and understand how they work together. Scholastic News magazines help connect lessons to current events.
Science: Through investigations, students will explore topics like plants, animals, weather, the solar system, and the butterfly lifecycle. Science Spin magazine keeps them engaged with current trends and experiments.
