St. John the Apostle School
Inspiring Mind and Soul
The students of St. John the Apostle School have a school year full of a variety of activities. Thoughout the year different grades plan and participate in First Friday Masses, Advent Service, Stations of the Cross, the Living Rosary, May Crowning, and other seasonal paraliturgy services. Many of these activities are done with prayer partners, pairing younger students with older students. the students also participate in a Christmas Concert for Grade K - 5, a Fall Concert for Grade 6, and Spring concert for Grade 7 and 8. Grade K - 5 have a Rec Night and Grade 6 - 8 have several Socials throughout the year. the studetn body hold and annual Walk-A-thon and periodic special days to raise money for various charities. Grade 1 and 4 perform traditional seasonal plays. The Parent-Faculty Guild holds a Christmas Bazaar for the students. during Catholic Schools Week activities include professional assemblies, spelling bees, forensics demonstrations and numerous school and classroom projects.

Students are given the opportunity to participate in several school sponsored activities which include schola choir, student government, chess club, yearbook, newspaper, intramural sports, Family Math, and math tutoring/enrichment. St. John the Apostle Parish sponsors the Girls Scouts (Daisies through Seniors) and Boy Scouts (Tiger through Eagle) programs. the Athlectic Association of St. John the Apostle Parish sponsors sports programs available to both school and parish children. These include volleyball, softball. baseball. basketball, and cheerleading.

An instrumental music program is available to students for an additional fee. The participants perform a Spring Instrumental Concert. Various classes participate in Mathfax, ShopRite Young Consumers, Junior Achievement and DARE. There are poster and essay contests that are sponsored by the Archdiocese, Kinghts of Columbus, American Legion and other community organizations. Interscholastic activities include Catholic Challenge, Union County Forensics League, Scholastic Olympics, and Youth Art Month County Exhibit.
